Doesn’t it seem that the years go by faster as you get older? Especially when you have children, they grow so fast it’s hard to keep up! So then why is it that when you are pregnant, 40 weeks feel like 3 years? Let’s be honest, we all know why. The extreme lack of comfort caused by swollen ankles, lack of sleep, and everything else that comes with carrying around an extra 30+ pounds is the culprit. However, there is a more positive reason as well, you are excited to meet the little miracle growing inside you, duh! I think there is some good that comes with the slower pace. I feel like time slows down when we are pregnant so we have the opportunity enjoy our current life and take in the present before our lives change forever.

While this is definitely true for couples who are expecting their first, I think it plays a more important role for parents who are expecting number 2, 3, and so on. This is the time before you yet again have to face the reality of welcoming another newborn into your home. The utter exhaustion, immense joy and paralyzing fear of the unknown. This is the time before your children have to face the reality of having to share your attention, affection and love with another baby. When time slows down, we can take the time to enjoy the incredible life we have already been given, spend extra time with the people we love, and prepare for the next chapter.

So to answer the question of the day, is a Family Maternity Session for you? Most definitely! Document these moments so you can remember the relationship you share, the way you laugh together, and how they fit perfectly in your arms. Document these these moments to remember last couple of months when your first baby is your only baby. We ALWAYS get photos of Mommy by herself at family maternity shoots anyway, so there is nothing lost, and precious memories gained. So bring on the kiddos!
